Responsible Gambling

9Ja Odds (referred to in this statement as "9Ja Odds", "we", "us", or "our") is an educational and informational service. We do not accept, place, broker, mediate, facilitate, or otherwise process bets or wagers of any kind, and we are not a bookmaker, sportsbook, betting exchange, casino, or gambling operator. Even so, because the calculators and reference content made available through our website at https://9-ja.com and our mobile application (collectively, the "Service") concern sports odds, expected value, and bankroll management, we take the social responsibility of communicating responsibly about gambling-related topics seriously.
1. Strict 18+ requirement
Use of the Service is restricted to persons aged eighteen (18) years or older, or the legal age of majority for gambling in your jurisdiction of residence, whichever is higher. By accessing or using the Service you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement. We do not knowingly permit access to, or provide content to, any person under the age of eighteen. If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe that a minor under your supervision has accessed the Service, we encourage you to use parental-control software, age-appropriate browser settings, and ongoing supervision to prevent such access.
2. Gambling is not a source of income
Sports betting, gambling, casino gaming, lotteries, and similar activities are forms of entertainment that involve a substantial risk of financial loss. Even when statistical, mathematical, or analytical methods are applied — including those discussed in our educational content and computed by our calculators — there is no guarantee of profit. The mathematical concepts described in the Service, including expected value, Kelly criterion, arbitrage, dutching, and Poisson modelling, are theoretical frameworks that do not eliminate variance, statistical risk, or the possibility of significant financial loss. You should never view gambling as a reliable means of generating income, paying debts, or solving financial problems.
3. Recognise the warning signs of problem gambling
Gambling can become harmful when the behaviour stops being a form of entertainment and begins to negatively affect your finances, relationships, mental health, work, or daily life. The following behaviours may indicate the development of a gambling problem:
- spending more money or time on gambling than you can afford or intended;
- borrowing money, selling possessions, or taking out loans in order to gamble;
- "chasing losses" by placing larger or riskier bets in an attempt to recover money you have already lost;
- gambling to escape feelings of stress, anxiety, sadness, loneliness, or boredom;
- concealing the extent of your gambling from family members, partners, or friends;
- missing work, school, social, or family obligations because of gambling;
- feeling restless, irritable, anxious, or depressed when you cannot gamble;
- repeatedly attempting, without success, to reduce or stop gambling;
- relying on others to provide money to relieve financial problems caused by gambling;
- committing or considering unlawful acts, such as fraud or theft, in order to finance gambling;
- experiencing thoughts of self-harm or suicide related to gambling-related losses or debts.
If you recognise any of these signs in yourself or in someone you know, professional support is available. Please consult Section 6 below.
4. Self-protection measures we encourage
Whether or not you currently use any gambling service, we encourage you to adopt the following self-protection practices in respect of any gambling-related activity in your life:
- Set a strict budget for any money you allocate to gambling, and never exceed it under any circumstances.
- Use only disposable income — money you can afford to lose entirely without affecting your essential expenses, savings, debt repayments, or obligations to others.
- Set time limits on any gambling session. Walk away when the limit is reached, regardless of outcome.
- Do not chase losses. Increasing stakes after a loss in an attempt to recover the loss is one of the most common and damaging patterns of problem gambling.
- Never gamble under the influence of alcohol, drugs, strong emotion, or sleep deprivation, all of which impair judgement.
- Take regular breaks from gambling activity.
- Balance gambling with other activities — work, exercise, relationships, hobbies — and never let it become the dominant feature of your life.
- Talk openly about your gambling with someone you trust.
- Self-exclude from gambling operators where possible. Most licensed bookmakers and casinos offer formal self-exclusion programmes that block your access for a specified period.
- Block gambling websites and applications on your devices using parental-control software, third-party blocking tools (for example, Gamban, Net Nanny, BetBlocker), or operating-system features.
5. We deliberately limit promotional content
In keeping with our responsible-gambling commitment, 9Ja Odds:
- does not display bookmaker names, brands, logos, advertising, or "claim your bonus" messaging;
- does not participate in any affiliate, referral, marketing, advertising, or revenue-sharing arrangement with bookmakers, sportsbooks, casinos, or other gambling operators;
- does not target promotional content based on the assumption that you are a current or prospective gambler;
- does not present win-related content (testimonials, "big winner" stories, celebratory imagery) that may foster unrealistic expectations.
6. Where to get help
If gambling is causing harm to you or to someone you care about, free and confidential help is available. The following organisations provide support in respect of problem gambling. Inclusion in this list is for informational reference only and does not constitute endorsement.

7. Protecting minors
Protecting minors from exposure to gambling content is a shared responsibility between operators, parents, guardians, and educators. If you share a device with anyone under the age of eighteen, we strongly recommend that you: (a) sign out of any gambling-related services after use; (b) clear browsing history regularly; (c) install reputable parental-control software; (d) use age-appropriate operating-system settings; and (e) speak openly with younger family members about the risks of gambling.
8. Mental-health and financial-distress disclaimer
9Ja Odds is not, and does not hold itself out as, a provider of medical, psychological, psychiatric, social-work, counselling, financial-counselling, debt-counselling, or related professional services. The information in this statement is provided for general awareness only and is not a substitute for professional advice. If you are in distress, please seek help directly from a qualified professional or one of the support services listed in Section 6.
9. Jurisdictional considerations
The legality, regulation, and availability of gambling and sports-betting activities vary significantly between countries, states, and regions. You are solely responsible for ensuring that any gambling-related activity in which you engage complies with the laws and regulations applicable to you in your jurisdiction. If gambling is unlawful where you are, you must not engage in such activity.
10. Changes
We may revise this statement from time to time in order to reflect changes in best practices, applicable law, or the Service. The "Last updated" date at the top will indicate when it was last revised.
